I am very pleased to share with everyone that a check has been delivered to Haralson County Middle School from the Haralson County Gifted Association to sponsor Mr. Young's attendance at the National Association for Gifted Children Convention (http://www.nagc.org/2010convention.aspx) being held in Atlanta on November 11-14th. This will directly benefit our gifted students and our schools as this convention will bring the latest research and teaching techniques by the leading experts in the gifted education field! So, a very big
"Thank You" to all our members who participated in the 2 fundraisers held so far this year, and also "Thank You" to Mr. Young for representing Haralson County Schools and the Gifted Program at the convention!!

Our goal was to raise enough funds to send 2 teachers to the convention. We have met one of those goals, but will still need to raise some additional funds for our 2nd teacher. There is still a considerable amount of bottled water and kool-aid jammers left from our previous fundraisers, and we will probably set up a table at the City Wide Yard Sale the 1st weekend in October. The bake sale at Waco Fest was successful and we are considering asking for cake, cookie, brownie etc... donations again to sell at the City Wide Yard Sale. All of the whole cakes sold- as did the mini cakes, banana bread loaves, and platters of brownies. We also sold quiet a bit of the individual servings, but may only sell cookies individually next time, and then whole cakes etc. Everyone please let me know your thoughts on this, and indicate if you may be able to contribute/participate.

We have gained our membership needed to renew our charter! We are very pleased with the continued interest and support, and wish to remind everyone that we will be sending in our renewal at the end of September, so if you are intending to submit your annual membership dues, please try to have that in the mail before the end of the month (to make it easier on our treasurer and secretary). The application may be printed here (http://www.oomphind.com/GAGC/membership_app_gagc.pdf).

Our next quarterly meeting will be on Monday November 15th. Please mark your calendars now! It will be at 6:30 at the Georgia Power Bldg in Tallapoosa. As always, our gifted kids are encouraged to attend. There will be activities and snacks provided.
